Are you sure a "metrician" isn't someone who rides Metro? Similarly I have been calling people who live in my city "Fredericians" because all of the alternatives (Frederickers? Frederickans?) sound equally silly...

Actually, I did a Google lookup and Merriam - Webster lists it as obsolete for composer of versers
