Robert Becker Zapolsky Williams -- First August at Home (part 1)

August 1, 2004. August 1, 2004.

Eventually Steve, Helen and Aaron had to leave, but not without a couple more pictures.

Tony, Anne and Hannah came by to say hi to Robert.

And Sarah's co-worker Ed stopped by on his way back from the Marina. (Note the cool map he gave us a wedding present in the background.)

There seems to be a certain pattern in terms of which cat wants to take over Robert's space; that's Max again (see the nursery security breach). Our friend Martha passed along this great bear from Build-a-Bear; note the sleeping bag and sandals!
August 3, 2004. Zip seems to have made himself at home with Robert as well -- but he's been better about not being caught in Robert's cribs.
Brian (the namesake of BriBear, the backpacking bear Martha sent to Robert) is visiting his folks between summer and real jobs. Hank called up and asked if David wanted to go boating with them. Brian and Hank got some odd looks by the slalom racers at the feeder canal. But Robert looks like he enjoyed his walk along the C&O canal (and his Maya Wrap we got from a neighbor up the street). And we all enjoyed the amazing weather that has popped on top of DC for a couple of days.

And Sunday Robert got to go to his first party: His adult friend Brian's 24th birthday party. Unfortunately, Robert is not quite equipped yet (at 17 days old) for cake and ice cream. But he did seem to enjoy hanging out in Hank and Sally's back yard. (And, of course, Sally had to hold "The Baby".) August 8, 2004.

He was stylin' on his way too and from the party in his party hat!

The next week, Sarah's colleagues sent a fruit basket over and we tried (unsuccessfully) for a cool still life photo. And Chris and Dan (of the "emergency bible run" at our wedding) finally came by to meet Robert. They wanted to make sure all the out-of-towners had a chance to visit.
