A new stretch of river

On a gorgeous day, we took the canoe and Sarah’s kayak down to Fredericksburg and the Rappahannock River. This stretch used to be dammed up but they took the damn down a couple years ago. We were really glad that they left the rope swing up — or put up a new one.

The rope swing was just downstream from the put in. Speaking of the the put in, thank you American Whitewater for the river level, description and map.

That’s Robert swinging out over the canoe — a little further than we thought he would get. It was a great day, perfect weather and fun on the river with new rapids no longer under the lake the dam formed.
