Robert is now a college graduate!!! We're back from Seattle where were celebrated his graduation. With the UW graduation festivities along with World Cup Soccer, Sarah worked hard to find us this lovely VRBO last year. It was a perfect base for us in a lovely part of Ballard. And once we understood the occasional "thunk" were these fruits dropped out of the tree, we settled right in. Robert had a late night after our arrival (he and Brooklyn met us at the airport). So we took advantage of our location to check out the Ballard Locks in the morning. It's pretty fun to watch the variety of watercraft coming and going through the locks. |

| We also picked up this cake for the post-graduation pizza party Robert planned out. Years ago, we ordered a birthday cake for Robert's 8th birthday and the decorator managed to misspell his name. Sarah corrected it when we got it home, but we all still sang "Happy Birthday, Roterb." So it only seemed right to ask them to write out "Congrats, Roterb" on this cake. He enjoyed showing it off and explaining that story to his friends. |

| After we showed off the cake, Robert opened a couple presents and cards we brought with us. It was a nice chance to have him to ourselves for the afternoon. We took advantage of the weather to take out his RC cars; Sarah may be coming around to them (as long as he doesn't crash into her too much). |
| The next day, we met Robert to take a few photos in his cap and gown on the way to his departmental graduation. He put up with lots of photos :) |

| At the Department of Geography Convocation, with about 180 students, they each get to walk across the stage and shake hands with the chair. For the University wide event (with about 10,000 students), they stay seated (outside). We were happy that Robert was not interested in the bigger, less personal event. Robert's cheering section (above) was Aiden, Brooklyn, Sarah and David. |

Robert and his cheering section met up with a few more of his friends after graduation and headed to his apartment for pizza and cake. Sarah and David, somewhat still on east coast time, left earlish. And heard later from Robert that he crashed hard a little while later. His friends carried on at Tessia's apartment (across the street) celebrating the day — ask Robert to see the memorial photo from the after party. Not surprisingly, he slept in the next day. Sarah and David picked up a Zip car (it was not easy as it should have been) and headed down to Tacoma Narrows. A very pretty spot with a lovely view of Mt. Rainier over the water. |

| Robert recreated his finals cookout over the weekend. As it was crazy hot for Seattle, he choose the parking deck to set up his grill for hot dogs. Sarah and David really enjoyed getting to meet more of his friends and spend time basking in the glow of a newly minted college graduate |
|
We were especially happy to have time with Brooklyn and to get to know their parents and brother. Not to mention getting to meet Dexter the Bernese Mountain Dog (and Brooklyn's cats). The whole family are great, Robert is lucky to have found Brooklyn. We expect to back out there in a few weeks helping Robert move. Future plans are still a little murky: he is working World Cup games at Lumen Field (renamed Seattle Stadium by FIFA). And plans find a more full-time position to stay in Seattle. CONGRATULATIONS, ROBERT!!! |
